Costa Rica gov't inks deal to open representative office in Dubai

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Costa Rican government to open a representative office for Costa Rica in Dubai.

The MoU was signed by Majid Saif Al Ghurair, chairman of Dubai Chamber, and Manuel Gonzalez Sanz, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship on the sidelines of the Global Business Forum on Latin America 2018 in Dubai.

Under the terms of the MoU, Costa Rica’s government will open a representative office in Dubai, located at Dubai Chamber’s headquarters.

The agreement supports the efforts of the UAE and Costa Rica to strengthen bilateral cooperation and facilitate trade and investment flows, a statement said.

“The opening of Costa Rica’s representative office in Dubai is a positive development that will improve our economic relations with the country and the Latin America region. It will enable companies in Costa Rica and other Latin American nations to benefit from the competitive advantages offered by Dubai, and boost their trade with other parts of the world,” said Al Ghurair.

Sanz added: "We are thankful to the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the opportunity to open our Representative Office in Dubai... With this agreement, we are creating a platform that will serve the private sector of both nations in generating wealth and with material progress, bringing good and better jobs and prosperity for all."
